School Data Toolkit
Preparing and Supporting Virginia’s Educators and School Leaders
Schools in Virginia were provided with a preview of their School Performance and Support Framework data this fall so they can more accurately pinpoint areas of improvement and make evidence-based changes as quickly as possible so that teachers and students have what they need to improve.
The Virginia Department of Education has provided comprehensive training opportunities and regular technical assistance for division leaders and staff since the Virginia Board of Education approved the School Performance and Support Framework in August 2024. To date, VDOE has offered:
- Sixteen Regional Superintendent Trainings
- Eight training sessions were provided in September to overview the Framework and focus on understanding the data from each school division’s elementary school.
- In October, eight additional trainings were held on middle school and high school data with a focus on resources and the new readiness components.
- Four Division Leader Trainings
- In October and November, VDOE administered four webinar trainings for division leaders, including Division Directors of Testing and other designated leaders. Two webinars were dedicated to training using elementary school-level data and two webinars were dedicated to training using middle and high school-level data.
- Three School Counselor Trainings
- Throughout the month of October, school counselors across the Commonwealth have been provided with an overview of the School Performance and Support Framework with additional focus on the 3E Readiness framework responsive to the key role school counselors have in providing access to students and families to promote readiness at the elementary, middle, and high school levels.
- Five Key Partner Training and Information Sessions
- VDOE staff and the Superintendent of Public Instruction have administered training to various key partners and stakeholder groups during the month of October, including:
- In-person overview of the Framework at the Virginia Association of School Superintendents Professional Conference.
- Virtual and in-person overview of the Framework at the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia Lunch and Learn.
- Virtual and in-person overview of the Framework at the Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals - Principals Council.
- In-person overview of the Framework at the Western Virginia Public Education Consortium.

- VDOE staff and the Superintendent of Public Instruction have administered training to various key partners and stakeholder groups during the month of October, including:
These opportunities have enabled division staff and key partners throughout the Commonwealth to understand the Board’s intent and goals of the School Performance and Support Framework and to provide technical guidance for division utilization of the Framework in analysis of school-level data.
Division leaders will receive information about any future trainings and continue to be provided support, resources, and technical assistance needed to successfully implement the new Framework.
