A Successful Ending to the Learning Acceleration Grant Program

After 13 months, the Learning Acceleration Grant program successfully ended on May 30, 2024, providing over $68 million in micro-grants to nearly 400,000 Virginia students for tutoring, specialized therapies, and assistive technology. The VDOE greatly values and appreciates our partnership with Virginia parents and families who made sure their children had the advantage of hundreds of thousands of hours of tutoring over the past year. We also want to thank our more than 3,000 vendor partners that made it possible to provide hundreds of thousands of tutoring and therapy hours to students.

Tutoring in Action

Ivy Williams, a Virginia Learning Acceleration grant recipient, speaks about how the program helps her gain confidence in reading and feel prepared for the next grade level.

Families also shared this feedback about participation in the Learning Acceleration Grant:

  • “Without this grant, we would not have been able to provide the deep concentrated one-on-one reading instruction that he has received.”

  • “We are so thankful to the state of Virginia for providing this grant.”

  • “With this information, we've been able to better understand their unique minds, make accommodations, and help our children thrive - and even get straight A's! None of this would have been possible without the Learning Acceleration Grant. This has been a truly life changing opportunity for my kids and our family. Thank you.”
