Best Practices for Virginia Community School Implementation (VSCI)

The Best Practices for Virginia Community School Implementation document (previously named the Virginia Community School Framework) seeks to remove nonacademic barriers to learning as a means to enhance student academic success. Schools or divisions using these best practices address these barriers and open doors for student success. Community schools create opportunities, empower communities, provide wrap-around services, and meet students where they are, every day.

Virginia Community Schools Branches of Support

The four categories below represent the branches of supports a school provides to students when they implement the Virginia Community Schools best practices:

  • Basic Needs;
  • Emotional and Mental Health Needs;
  • Student Engagement and Motivation; and
  • Family and Community Engagement.
