TO:  Division Superintendents

FROM:  Steven R. Staples, Superintendent of Public Instruction

SUBJECT: Virginia Individualized Education Program (IEP) System

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE), Division of Special Education and Student Services has been working to deliver an Individualized Education Program (IEP) system to school divisions in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Through a careful selection process VDOE has selected the Public Consulting Group (PCG) to provide the Virginia IEP System to school divisions across the Commonwealth.

The VDOE is planning on a limited release of the Virginia IEP System to approximately 20 school divisions for the 2017-2018 school year and full implementation by the end of the 2021-2022 school year.  The Virginia IEP System is optional and free to school divisions who choose to opt-in during the first five years of the contract.

School divisions not selected during the first year of implementation are encouraged to continue working with their existing vendor or pursue new IEP systems that will benefit students with disabilities in the interim.

The VDOE will provide more information in the upcoming months.  If you have questions or concerns please contact, Andrew Greenidge, Statewide Online IEP Specialist in the Office of Special Education Program Improvement, at Andrew.Greenidge@doe.virginia.gov or by telephone at (804) 786-6618.
