SUBJECT: Virginia Chapter and the Southeast Region of the Association for Learning Environments (previously known as CEFPI) Joint Conference, April 17-20, 2016

The Virginia Chapter and the Southeast Region of the Association for Learning Environments (previously known as CEFPI) Joint Conference will be held at the Williamsburg Lodge in Williamsburg, Virginia, on April 17-20, 2016.  A brochure describing this three-day interactive workshop on educational facilities and planning can be found at

This year, the Virginia Chapter-Southeast Region Annual Conference will offer two night’s accommodations at the Williamsburg Lodge for up to 100 school division representatives. There is a limit of two scholarships per division, and to avail of these scholarships school division staff are invited to register at

The conference will include an exhibit of recently completed school projects, as well as school construction projects in progress in Virginia.  A jury will judge the completed projects and awards will be presented to the architects and winning schools. This year the conference will also showcase the “SchoolNext” middle school competition where one winning middle school team from each state in the region will compete to win the regional award for best school design.  The regional winning team will represent the Southeast region at the national conference to be held in Philadelphia in September 2016.

Keynote and major session speakers will present information on a number of critical educational facilities issues, including legislative initiatives that impact schools.  There will also be breakout sessions on various subjects of interest to facilities and maintenance personnel, including school design presentations by college level architecture students.  I encourage you or representatives from your division to attend this informative conference.
