SUBJECT:  2012 Annual Technology in Education Conference

The Virginia Society for Technology in Education (VSTE) will host its Annual Technology in Education Conference December 2-4, 2012, at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, Virginia Beach, Virginia.  This will be the 27th year for the conference, which focuses on all aspects of educational technology of interest to K-12 educators.  This year’s theme is Power Up: Excite, Ignite, Inspire.

The conference will feature keynote speaker Steve Dembo, Director of Social Media Strategy and Online Community for Discovery Education. Spotlight speakers include Tammy Worcester, creator of the popular Web site Tammy’s Tips for Teachers, and Daniel Valenzuela, a senior at the Academy of Science (AOS) in Loudoun County, Virginia.

Breakout sessions address a range of topics including cutting-edge technology and subject area integration. A special IT Solutions strand focuses on technical topics. The Digital Sandbox provides a playground for educational technology fun!

The Educational Technology Leadership Institute, which will be held on Monday, December 3, provides sessions designed for school administrators and leaders.  This year, the Institute will focus on Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) and the luncheon symposium will feature panelists from York County and Virginia Beach discussing their BYOD initiatives.
