SUBJECT:  Professional Development for the Implementation of the Department of Educationís Economics and Personal Finance Course

A four-week online asynchronous professional development course is available from the Department of Education (DOE) to assist teachers delivering the DOE’s Economics and Personal Finance (EPF) course as either an online-only or as a blended-learning class. The course will focus on teaching the EPF content as well as reviewing online teaching best practices. Teachers should have some experience with online classes as this professional development is not designed to cover online teaching skills in-depth.

Two training sessions are being provided at no cost to school divisions. The sessions are scheduled for May 2 through May 29, 2012, and July 11 through August 8, 2012. The division’s secondary instructional leader should submit teacher names for this training to Jean Weller at Teachers may not register themselves. Deadlines for registering are April 25 for the May 2 starting date and July 6 for the July 11 starting date.
