Virginia Department of Education
Virginia is for Learners
Virginia’s revised Standards of Accreditation represent the most significant overhaul of Virginia’s accountability system in two decades. Virginia’s new accreditation system acknowledges the successes of ALL students as well as the hard work of their teachers. By embracing Virginia is for Learners, the Virginia Department of Education – in partnership with the Virginia Board of Education – remains focused on excellence and accountability while ensuring that Virginia is a place where every student is ready to succeed.
Autism Awareness Month
Since the 1970s, April has been designated as National Autism Awareness Month. To learn more about teaching students with autism spectrum disorders, see information, resources and tools for educators, administrators and parents.
Month of the Military Child
Throughout the nation and commonwealth educators and communities will take time in April to recognize the contributions of children whose parents serve in the military. Visit Recognize & Celebrate Military Children for ways to celebrate. Additional information and resources about military children and Virginia public schools are also available.
