Public Hearings on the Proposed 2018 Science Standards of Learning
On June 27, 2018, the Virginia Board of Education received for first review the proposed revised 2018 Science Standards of Learning. The Virginia Board of Education is now seeking comments from the general public on the proposed 2018 Science Standards of Learning for use in Virginia public schools.
The proposed 2018 Science Standards of Learning identify academic content for essential components of the science curriculum at different grade levels for Virginia’s public schools. The proposed 2018 Science Standards of Learning can be accessed at the Virginia Department of Education.
Public comment regarding the proposed 2018 Science Standards of Learning may be submitted through the VDOE Science Instruction webpage no later than September 15, 2018, or by speaking at one of three public hearings. Each public hearing will begin at 6:30 p.m. Registration of speakers will begin at 6 p.m. Speakers will have three minutes to speak and should bring copies of their comments for the Board of Education. The public hearings will be held at the following locations:
- 08/27/18 - William Fleming High School, 3649 Ferncliff Avenue NW, Roanoke, Virginia 24017
- 09/05/18 - Brooke Point High School, 1700 Courthouse Road, Stafford, Virginia 22554
- 09/13/18 - Blair Middle School, 117 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, Virginia 23185
