Strategies to Support English Learner (EL) Newcomer Students and Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) Training of Trainers (TOT)


As part of the Virginia Department of Education’s ongoing effort to support school division personnel in planning and implementing evidence-based instructional strategies and programs for English Learners (ELs), a one-day training titled Strategies to Support EL Newcomer Students and SLIFE TOT will be hosted by Fairfax County Public Schools staff as specified below:

This training is intended for teams of K-12 educators.  The trainers will present, model, and engage participants so that they can train staff at their respective schools in evidence-based instructional and intervention approaches to support EL newcomer students and SLIFE.

Registration and Lodging:  The Office of Continuing and Professional Education at Virginia Tech will manage online registration and lodging. The deadline for registration and lodging is August 22, 2018.

Authorized Expenses:  Evening meals, parking, and travel costs are the responsibility of attendees; however, these expenses are authorized activities and may be charged to local Title I, Part A; Title I, Part C; Title II, Part A; or Title III, Part A budgets.  Materials, breakfast, and lunch will be provided.
