Scholarship Opportunity for Advanced Placement Summer Institute (APSI)
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) will offer an AP Summer Institute (APSI) co-sponsored by the College Board for the following AP courses:
- AP Computer Science Principles
- AP Computer Science A
The funding for this opportunity will provide a week-long professional development training for new AP teachers (0-3 years experience). Divisions are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to provide new AP teachers with an overview of the curriculum structures, teaching strategies, and the relationship of the courses to the AP Examinations.
The VDOE and College Board will pay the full registration fee, travel expenses, and a $250 stipend to attend one of the trainings at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg or Woodson High School in Fairfax County.
Since available funds are not sufficient to cover all AP teachers, funds will be distributed via an application process. The 2018 VDOE AP Summer Institute Scholarship applications: This link takes you out of the Virginia Department of Education website. must be submitted online through College Board. Applications will be accepted from Monday, April 2, 2018, to Friday, April 20, 2018.
