2018 Virginia WWI & WWII Multi-Museum Statewide Teacher Symposiums


The summer of 2018 falls amid two significant anniversaries–the 75th anniversary of WWII and the 100th anniversary of WWI, and Virginia has been at the forefront of the commemoration as museums and historic sites across the state mark the occasion.  As part of this commemoration, and as a means to explore and share the countless resources Virginia offers for learning about WWI and WWII, the Virginia World War I and World War II Commemoration Commission: This link takes you out of the Virginia Department of Education website. will join again with partners across Virginia to host four symposiums: This link takes you out of the Virginia Department of Education website. for teachers across the Commonwealth.

The Commission will be joining museums and historic sites that will offer various sessions providing overviews of both wars, content for teaching WWI and WWII, and museum tours highlighting local resources that support the history and social science skills and content.  Although the symposiums are free for Virginia educators, registration: This link takes you out of the Virginia Department of Education website. is necessary as space is limited.  Lunch will be provided. Attendees will receive recertification certificates.
