LinguaFolio® Virginia Online Pilot
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) is pleased to announce free access for all Virginia public and private schools to the Virginia LinguaFolio® Online pilot system for the 2017-2018 school year. At the conclusion of the pilot year, free access will be available for five years for the most active teachers in the pilot, up to a total of 5,000 students.
LinguaFolio® is a portfolio system based on Can-Do learning. Virginia LinguaFolio® Online crosswalks the Can-Do Performance Indicators with the Virginia Foreign Language Standards of Learning (SOL), and serves as a system for accurately gauging student progress on the continuum of performance measures, including the development of language proficiency in the interpersonal, presentational, and interpretive modes.
As per the terms of this opportunity, all Virginia schools may access the Virginia LinguaFolio® Online services via the link included in Attachment A. Please disseminate the attached information at your discretion to schools and departments within your division. Each school has a unique Join Code which can be used by administrators and teachers in any world language course. Join Codes will be distributed to division world language supervisors or contact persons via email. The Join Codes should be shared with schools within the division as appropriate.
VDOE provided training in the use and support of LinguaFolio® in two separate sessions for supervisors and teacher leaders. Continuing professional development over the next five years will be provided by the Center for Applied Second Language Studies (CASLS) in the form of webinars and other virtual training opportunities.
There is no obligation to continue services after the free access period. Schools and/or divisions that wish to continue to access the Virginia LinguaFolio® Online services after the free access period will be given the opportunity to participate in special pricing plans. Individual school divisions need to contact CASLS directly to request continuing access; VDOE will not be serving as a subscription intermediary.
