PluggedInVA Grant Application 2017-2018

The 2017 General Assembly has provided state funding in the amount of $465,375 for fiscal year 2018 (July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018) to school divisions for approved regional adult education programs. The funds are to be used for implementation of a new PluggedInVA program or maintenance of an existing program.  Eligible applicants may apply for competitive grants of $35,000 for the maintenance of existing programs or $50,000 for new programs. The application packet is located on the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) website.

PluggedInVA is a career pathway program that prepares adults with the workforce training and education they will need to succeed in high-demand, high-wage careers. In partnership with local employers and postsecondary institutions, the program provides learners an opportunity to simultaneously complete a high school equivalency (HSE) credential; earn digital skills credentials, an employability certificate such as the Career Readiness Certificate (CRC), and industry-specific credentials; and strengthen their academic and professional skills.

The PluggedInVA grant program is available through the state Lottery funding. School divisions and nonschool division entities that operate a regional adult education program in partnership with a school division are eligible to apply for these funds.

An original grant application should be emailed to oael@doe.virginia.gov and three paper copies mailed to:

Both electronic and paper applications must be received no later than 4 p.m., July 20, 2017. Applications not meeting the delivery deadline will not be considered.
