SUBJECT: Virginia Chapter of the Association for Learning Environments (previously known as CEFPI) Annual Conference, May 1-2, 2017

The Virginia Chapter of the Association for Learning Environments (previously known as CEFPI) Annual Conference will be held at the Williamsburg Lodge in Williamsburg, Virginia, on May 1-2, 2017.  A brochure describing this two-day interactive workshop on educational facilities and planning can be found at http://www.va4le.orgThis link takes you out of the Virginia Department of Education website.

This year, the Virginia Chapter-Southeast Region Annual Conference will offer two nights’ accommodations at the Williamsburg Lodge for up to 100 school division representatives. There is a limit of two scholarships per division, and to avail of these scholarships school division staff are invited to register at http://www.va4le.orgThis link takes you out of the Virginia Department of Education website.

The conference will include an exhibit of recently completed school projects, as well as construction projects in progress in Virginia. A jury will judge the completed projects and awards will be presented to the architects and winning schools. This year the conference will also include presentations by the student winning teams of the Virginia “SchoolNext” student competition.   The winning team, Walton Middle School from Albemarle County, and the runner up team from the Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Arlington County, will be presenting their projects.

Keynote and major session speakers will present information on a number of critical educational and facilities issues.  There will also be breakout sessions on various subjects of interest to facilities and maintenance personnel, including school design presentations by college level architecture students.  I encourage you or representatives from your division to attend this informative conference.
