In addition to the online public comment period, the Virginia Board of Education will hold two public hearings to solicit comments on the proposed revised Standards of Learning for Foreign Language. These will be held on March 27 and April 3, 2014. See Superintendent's Memo #061-14 for additional information.
Although there is no applicable SOL test associated with foreign language instruction, the SOLs are intended to provide students with the knowledge and skills to be able to interact, within reasonable limits, with users of the language and understand their culture.
